Sodium Xylene Sulfonate, or OXONIL SXS, is an anionic surfactant and sulfonated hydrotrope that improves the solubility of surfactants and enables their optimum utilization in formulations. Hydrotrope: Sodium Xylene Sulfonate acts as a sulfonated hydrotrope that improves the compatibility of formulation components. When ingredients such as fragrances are added to a formulation, it enhances their solubility and promotes better incorporation into the final product.
Coupling Agent: The coupling properties of OXONIL SXS enable the use of different surfactants in formulations containing high levels of inorganic builders, improving formulation stability and compatibility.
Mild Degreasing Agent: Sodium Xylene Sulfonate is used in cleaning and detergent formulations to provide gentle removal of grease and oils from various surfaces.
Emulsifier Aid: Sodium Xylene Sulfonate acts as an effective aid to emulsifying agents by improving the stabilization and dispersion of oil- and water-based materials, creating a homogeneous mixture. Cloud Point Depressant: Sodium Xylene Sulfonate is widely used as a cloud point depressant in formulations such as shampoos, liquid and powder laundry detergents, liquid hand soaps, dishwashing liquids, dishwasher gels, and glass cleaners.
Anti-Caking Agent: Sodium Xylene Sulfonate is also used as an anti-caking agent in formulations that are dried using spray drying processes.
Wetting Agent: OXONIL SXS is used as a wetting agent in personal care products such as shampoos, where it improves spreading, resulting in more effective cleaning and enhanced performance. As a wetting agent, Sodium Xylene Sulfonate reduces the contact angle of a liquid on a solid surface, thereby improving wetting and spreading properties while increasing penetration and interaction with solid materials. It is commonly used in textile processing and agricultural formulations where enhanced wetting performance is required.
